When you first start out on the internet you become overwhelmed with information overload. You’ll have questions such as; where do I go for answers to my questions? Who can I trust? What’s the next step I should take? The list is never ending. What about learning html, cgi, scripts, advertising, setting up auto responders, developing your own product, uploading, ftp, and a payment process for your customers. This all takes time, effort, sweat and money, and some people want it all now and become frustrated because of all the work that’s involved.
Aside from that you open your email to an opportunity that suggests you can make obscene amounts of money by using their product. It’s a well crafted sales letter that gets you interested in the product. This can sometimes lead to impulse purchases because you thought you needed to know and the advertiser promises you’ll make large amounts of money. The advertiser doesn’t know your background and how can they claim you’ll make this money. They don’t know you, or what you’re capable of doing. Listen very carefully your not alone. The excitement of the internet can pull you into anything, if you let it. Here’s a heads-up on what you should do.
When you don’t know something learn it or buy a product that will teach you the specific task you want to learn. Shut the doors, turn the TV off, close the blinds and get the learning process started. Spend time learning html. When you’ve finished that and only when you have finished that move on to the next task. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish when you sit down and do it. In addition, you’ll get better at each task the more you do it. With practice and learning you’ll become a Webmaster.
Don’t buy anything unless you need it. I’m not telling you this to discourage you if you want to make it online you need to learn. I continue to learn every day and some tasks are more difficult than others. I’ve spent thousand of dollars learning online and making mistakes along the way. This is part of business and success.
Do you think Jim Daniels, Mark Joyner, Ken Evoy, and Marlon Sanders knew everything when they started their businesses?
Here’s the real truth “they didn’t”, but they have learned and will continue to learn just like you and I. When I started I new absolutely nothing about web sites and everything involved with running a business online. I was terrified when I started, but I jumped in anyway and made the promise to myself that I will not quit and I’ll do what ever it takes to run my own business.
Today I make enough to support my business and a few extra dollars to continue marketing my business. When I started I didn’t go in thinking I would make millions. I keep setting achievable goals and working my business every day and I love what I do and you should too. The economy is rebounding now so keep your head up and start learning new things.
